Attainable and Accessible Universities Seminars

The third "Attainable and Accessible Universities Seminars" event was hosted by İstanbul University at the IU Congress and Culture Centre on November 7, 2017.

The "Attainable and Accessible Universities Seminars" event, organized by the General Directorate of Services for Persons with Disabilities and the Elderly under the Ministry of Family and Social Policy in a bid to convey the importance of accessibility for people with disabilities to universities, was hosted by İstanbul University at the IU Congress and Culture Centre on November 7, 2017.

The "Attainable and Accessible Universities Seminars" event is hosted by four universities located in four cities which have been determined following negotiations with the Higher Education Council (YÖK) Presidency and universities, and the third one held at İstanbul University was attended by Asst. Prof.  Meryem Demir Gudul, Head of the Department of Educational Sciences, and Dr. Gabriela Oana Olaru, Assistant Secretary General, on behalf of our university.

Authorities from the Directorate General of Services for Persons with Disabilities and the Elderly Accessibility Office made presentations on various issues, including "requirements of the persons with disabilities from different groups in buildings and necessary actions," "accessibility tracking and control forms," "principles of placing yellow rubber bumps on walking surfaces," "accessibility legislation," and current information on the accessibility standards in order to inform the participants.
